I bought one for my house and for my daughters home. The boys 3 and 5 absolutely loved this book. It is their bed time story book every night since I gave it to them! Fun and colorful with so.many words expressing each letters sound !!!!
jeff snow's drawings are a masterpiece of appeal and style. i wish i could do half as well. don't miss this book, ladies and gentlemen. my highest recommendation.
I began read the book to my youngest daughter. She was totally engaged. The sentence that really grabbed me was near the start of the book. Each word was initiated by each in-ABC-sequence letter, in sequence, for the entire 35-word+ sentence! It is an amazing sentence and proves just what one can do with not just the alphabet, but with words! Beautiful, amazing words! Words that flow into concepts and become art!
Then the brilliance of each page featuring not a dumbed-down, A is for Apple, but an eloquent and elaborate use of all sorts of A words for all sorts of A items!
Then, embedding throughout the wonderful illustrations plastered over the entire book, not just the words used in the A sentence, but a literal scavenger hunt of many other A words.
That followed by B, same scenario. C, same scenario.
There's a checklist of "words per featured letter" in the back, which we quickly realized. I checked and we missed only "comet" and "cobblestone" on the C.
I then had the school start using the book. Feedback was outstanding!
